Jason is heir by default. The Wizard's Stone and its trust should have gone to his older brother, Theda, who fell to his death on the eve of his fifteenth birthday. Plagued by feelings of guilt over his brother's death, Jason must learn to wield the power contained in the Pearl of Anton and overcome his own fears and doubts in order to protect his people from destruction.
