The second edition, two volumes in octavo (22 x 14cm), which adds 9 more plates to the first printing of the previous year. 'Travelling throughout India, the author hunted tiger near the Ganges & in the Dehra Dun. He spent time among the Maharattas, observing wild elephants, and participated in antelope hunting with cheetahs and falcons. The plates of tiger hunting from elephant back are quite striking.'- Czech. Vol. I, pp. xvi,382; Vol. II, pp. viii,380. Half-titles not bound in. With two frontispieces & 23 plates, all etched, and a folding map plus some occasional wood engravings on the letterpress. The plates a little browned/foxed, one leaf of text with a short tear in the outer margin. Otherwise an excellent fresh copy in full maroon morocco, the spine in six panels, gilt, the boards gilt bordered, the dentelles blind-tooled, aeg, very light scuff to one board.
