Hardcover in bright yellow cloth lettered and decorated in black. 367 pp. A tight, bright example, some spotting to top and fore edges, In the original dust wrapper, very good, lightly rubbed and with a small chip top front edge, small closed tear rear panel and minor wera head of spine. The first in a planned trilogy of novels set in Russia and the Balkans, where Worthley had travelled extensively as a young woman. This entry involves Tsar Alexander I during the Napoleonic pewriod, and the poet Pushkin, who is thrown into exile to wander through the Ukraine, Crimea and Caucasus.
