An uncommon novel by Albert Delpit. A leather bound copy of Albert Delpit's uncommon novel, Le Père de Martial, or The Martial's Father. Published in French. Albert Delpit was a French novelist and playwright writing in the second half of the nineteenth century. Although he was born in New Orleans to a wealthy tobacco trader, he and his brother moved to France to study in Paris and Bordeaux. He volunteered in the war of 1870, from which he composed a collection of verses, L'Invasion, which kick started his popularity. In a black quarter calf binding over patterned boards. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards, with some small chips in the patterned paper to the edges of the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light foxing that eases to the centre of the volume. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 862N73
