Collection of commentaries on the Jerusalem Talmud. This is different from the standard Babylonian Talmud that has traditionally dominated Jewish thought. Edited by Louis Ginzberg was one of the most outstanding Talmudists of the 20th century. Other than this work, he is also known for his "Legends of the Jews." This work was later reprinted in 1971. Vol. 4 was edited and published posthumously by David Halivni in 1961. Text in Hebrew and Aramaic with an English introduction (at first volume). Each volume has an English title page as well as Hebrew. Very minor age wear. Ink and pencil notations inside front board of vol. 1. Vols. 2-4 have small white cataloguing label on foot of spines.
