Petau (1583-1652) was a distinguished Jesuit now best remembered for this general history, here in a "Editio novissima, cui accedit supplementum" and continued to 1710 by fellow Jesuit Jacques Perizonius. It is handsomely printed, including an engraved frontispiece portrait of Petau, an engraved added title-page, and a main title-page printed in red and black. 8vo.
