About this Item

11" x 7.75". [24pp.] Very mild soiling and edge wear, overall a nice near fine copy in a bright VG+ dust jacket with some light soiling. Rusell created pete the tramp for Judge, a humor magazine. The scraggly wayfarer quickly became a mascot for the Depression Era. His adventures in living day-to-day by wits alone became a sort of call to action and inspiration for those struggling to get a brother to spare a dime. King Features Syndicate championed the Pete the Tramp strip for 31 years, encouraging Russell to find new slice-of-life exploits until 1963. Bookseller Inventory # 3458
