About this Item

4to hardcover in thin dark green and gold cloth illustrated boards. No printing specified, but dates from early to mid 1920s. Very Good+ or better. 16pp. This fantastic 'booklet' is a promotional piece extolling the many wonders and virtues of the Peter Pan Woodland Club in Big Bear City in Southern California established by Lucky Baldwin & the Big Bear Land and Water Compamy in the mid'20s. The cover of the book is an amazing work of art in itself and consists of a raised title in gold with a twig-like rustic font, and a view of the lake in hues of green, gold & blue in the center surrounded by pine cones seen through an arch. The entire front board is also bordered by a twig design. The boards are staple-bound with an additional yellow tie. Tissue guards are present front & rear. The staples exhibit some discoloration and minor cracking at hinges, but o/w very sound. Included in booklet are halftone photographs and colored illustrations of the various sports & amenities the development has to offer: golf, boating, duck hunting, equestrian events, a fabulous lodge and more. Also included are a full-color map and calendar of events. Officers, Advisory Board and Committees are noted as well. Altogether a stunning booklet and a prime example of Southern California real estate promotion from the '20s. #6006HBR. Bookseller Inventory # ABE-739207274
