About this Item

39 pp. in printed wrappers. Illustrated. Reprinted by the Titanic Historical Society. Pamphlet devoted to clearing the name of Stanley Lord, who in 1912 was captain of the S.S. Californian and was widely criticized for not coming to the timely aide of the Titanic as it was sinking. He and his family reacted angrily to the publication in 1955 of "A Night To Remember" and the subsequent film which also portrayed him badly; after Lord's death in 1962, his familit petitioned the Board of Trade, supported by testimony by a Titanic survivor, to clear his name and accept his long-held asertation that the Californian was too far away to effect a rescue.
