About this Item

First edition. 24mo. in original tooled full calf decorated and bordered in gilt, olive green leather spine title and date labels. Marbled endpapers and edges. 171 pp. A tight example, text foxed throughout, presentation notation that it was given to a woman between the years 1822 and 1825, then presneted to another woman dfrom her grandmother in 1887. Very attractive, elaborate binding (somewhat unusual for an Americab book of this period) thought with wear to the leather at the exterior hinges and some rubbing about the edges and tips. Charles West Thomspn was born in Philadelphia in 1798. He authored five books of poetry and was also a contibutor to periodicals of the era. Bookseller Inventory # E16909
