Book Description The Vulcan Press, Birmingham, AL, 1955. First Edition. First Edition. A non-fiction expose of Phenix City, the "Gomorrah" of Alabama in the 1950s, not unlike the non-fiction books published about Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC by Jack Lait and Lee Mortimer around the same time. An obscure title, basis for the cornerstone 1955 film noir, "The Phenix City Story," directed by Phil Karlson, written for the screen by Daniel Mainwaring, and staring Richard Kiley and Kathryn Grant.Very Good plus in an about Very Good dust jacket. Jacket is complete, with tiny chips at a couple of corners, fraying at the spine ends, a dampstain at the verso of the spine panel (book not affected), and foxing to page edges and the jacket verso.
