About this Item
Oblong small octavo. 8.25" x 5.5". Commercial album. String-tied paper over boards stamped in blind with gilt American eagle. Contains approximately 55 gelatin silver images. Variety sizes perhaps averaging 4" x 3" or a little smaller. A couple of images removed or lacking, a few laid in, some damage to the leaves and a number of the images, a good only example. A few captions and dates, and some date stamps, ranging from 1941 to 1953, most seem around 1950. Album kept by a family, most are casual images, several of young men in military uniforms, some likely from the later days of WWII, some photo booth images, etc. Faint evidence that one image is from El Paso, Texas. A few names appear (Carl Smith, Henry Scott, Melvin Brown). Family images, including one post-mortem image. Two clippings in the album - one for a memorial for Nat King Cole, the other mentioning the promotion of a local soldier Ira N. Taylor of Roswell (New Mexico?) stationed in Japan.
