About this Item

An original B&W photograph documenting the Bishop Museum in Honolulu, Hawaii and its Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. Seen are the Hawaiian Hall and the Polynesian Hall of the museum. Size of image is 5.8 H x 7.8 W inches, size of print including margins is 6.4 H x 8.4 W inches. The museum was founded in 1889 and construction was completed by 1898. Photograph presumed issued about 1899 or possibly reprinted from the negative at a somewhat later date. Very Good condition. Very light semi-creasing along the left side margin area. On the reverse side of the photograph is written in pencil, "Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Dec. 99." A scarce item of Hawaiiana. The Bishop Museum purportedly contains the world's largest collection of Polynesian artifacts. We have been in business since 2003. The complete satisfaction of the book buyer is our goal. We are a specialty shop carrying all manner of art books, and scholarly and antiquarian books, as well as antique Japanese ukiyo-e prints. We describe conservatively, we pack carefully, and we ship promptly. We are always interested in buying private libraries, large and small. Independent from our book-buying interests, we also offer a professional appraisal service regarding fine and rare books in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please telephone us or e-mail us at if you have any questions or concerns. We will be happy to be of service. Thank you.

Shipping Terms:

We wrap and package very carefully and we ship promptly, usually within 1 business day of a paid order. USPS Media Mail includes a tracking number, as does Priority Mail. International rates to be determined at time of sale depending on weight and destination; we will contact you regarding shipping costs. We regret the recent substantial and unfriendly increase in rates by USPS for international parcels. Generally speaking, our default shipping fees are set somewhat conservatively. We never seek to make a profit from shipping fees. Delivery is guaranteed for all books and prints, and expensive items are insured as a matter of course without extra charge. Payment by U.S. check, cash, USPS or international money order, wire transfer, credit card and PayPal. Courtesy discount to colleagues and libraries or institutions, which may be invoiced. Sorry, California residents (non-dealers) will be charged appropriate sales tax.
