This British stage and film actress had a remarkable 80-year run, famed not only for being Sir John Gielgud's first Juliet but also for her performances as Eliza Doolittle and Cleopatra. Beautiful sepia tone PS, 3¼" X 5¼", n.p., n.d. [ca. 1930]. Fine. A stunning three-quarter length pose showing Ffrangcon-Davies seated in profile in an elaborate 19th century dress -- presumably a stage pose -- taken by reknowned British photographer YVONNE GREGORY (1889-1970) wife of noted photographer Bertram Park. Boldly inscribed "Sincerely yours / Gwen Ffrangcon- / Davies" along the blank bottom margin. A superb vintage example. Bookseller Inventory # 31162
