Photographs from a Late-19th Century Theater Production in Troy, Ohio: Old Maids' Convention (Extravaganza Prepared Especially for Church and Y. W. C. T. U. Entertainments). [Troy Opera House]
Group of 8 photographs and a very tattered play (stitched wraps, published by Saturday Herald in Sullivan, Illinois), offering an amusing look at theater production at the Troy Opera House. Silver gelatin prints, most of them on heavy cardstock backing by Barton Photographers of Troy, Ohio; images range from 4x6 to 8x10 inches (not including mounts); most with handwritten notations in the margins or on the verso, listing names, dates, etcetera (including an indication that these were once a part of the Ed. M. Cosley Collection). Condition is generally VG or better; a few of the photographs a bit silvered; some light rubbing. The play (in wraps) is tattered and torn, but with cast members' names recorded in ink. Idiosyncratic -- a nice look at local theatre. Bookseller Inventory # JC12588
