Large quarto in brownish-purple cloth with gilt titles on spine and gilt, embossed illus. on cover; 431 pp. Title page: "Containing a description of the best varieties, mode of cultivation, and the art of prparing them for the table; designed for the use of families, hotels and restaurants." Jules Arthur Harder, Chef de Cuisine, Palace Hotel. Very good copy, no dust jacket. Head of spine is chipped from top to about 2" down exposing binding partial title missing; sun fading to spine; light fraying and rubbing to cloth at along edges and corners of boards; cloth is dust soiled and boards are lightly bumped; but still a sturdy book; light foxing to first few leaves including frontispiece; pages are dusty along the edges, but are clean, bright and free of marks and creases with minimal foxing if any; binding is tight and square.
