**A First printing (full letter-line, a thru h)** The book is in Near Fine condition; pristine inside, unmarked and whistle-clean and the binding is stiff, straight, and square. The outside boards are clean and bright and only some soft bumping on the corners and a minor softening at the head and tail of spin keep it from being in fine condition. The DJ is complete, bright, and clean; there is some edge-wear and light chipping at the head and tail of spine and a tiny (quarter inch) triangular chip at top near corner, again some edge on the corners. A non-clipped dj. from the dj flap -- "The story of the American Navy, from the earliest days of the Revolutionary War to the Twentieth Century, is told here in a wealth of pictorial detail that has never been equaled. The fighting ships, the fighting men, and the engagements they fought -- they live again in the graphic illustrations and vivid descriptive text of this book. It covers all the wars, big and small; by means of pictures, plans, and detailed text the book traces the evolution of every major naval vessel; and it recreates the life of the ordinary sailor. By presenting the rival captains and their warships facing each other on the page, Picture History of the U S Navy gives the reader a dramatic view of both sides of the story in each war." * Collectible, rare first printing of the Bonanza Books edition. 9.25 inches by 12.25 inches / over 1 inch thick.
