About this Item

RARE Boxed Advance Reader's Edition. 1st Edition. New copy. Never read. Trade paperback format. BEAUTIFUL PERFECT COPY OF BOOK. I just took the book out of the box today [4-16-11] so I could list it for sale. Tape sealed the box and it was rotted. It pulled up some of the paper on the box. More or less 1" wide and 3" long. Tape left a small sticky substance that I put scotch tape over. COLLECTOR'S COPY. Bookseller Inventory # 000835

About this title

Synopsis:

In the post-apocalyptic twenty-first century, Shira Shipman, a woman caught in a deadly struggle for information, becomes involved with an illegal cyborg, an involvement that has links to a seventeenth-century Kabbalist who gives life to a golem

From the Inside Flap:

"A triumph of the imagination. Rich, complex, impossible to put down."
Alice Hoffman
In the middle of the twenty-first century, life as we know it has changed for all time. Shira Shipman's marriage has broken up, and her young son has been taken from her by the corporation that runs her zone, so she has returned to Tikva, the Jewish free town where she grew up. There, she is welcomed by Malkah, the brilliant grandmother who raised her, and meets an extraordinary man who is not a man at all, but a unique cyborg implanted with intelligence, emotions--and the ability to kill....
From the imagination of Marge Piercy comes yet another stunning novel of morality and courage, a bold adventure of women, men, and the world of tomorrow.
