1st. edition, fine+ in light brown cloth boards, black figure in chinese dress on cover and black printing on the spine. Very minor edge wear and very light foxing. Gift inscription on front free endpaper. Bright, clear, clean and tight throughout. Pictorial dust jacket with yellow background, edgeworn, chipped and light soiling. Two spots have tape repair, price sticker at upper top corner. Story of a young Chinese girl who hides from pirates when the ship she is on is attacked. How she came to live in Mexico, in the city of Puebla, and won the affection of the people, is the story told. At least one version of the origin of the charming " China Poblana" costume.
