During his long visit, he wrote this account of the later events of the Bounty mutineers. He gives a very detailed list of all the Bounty descendants and a valuable shipping record of vessels calling at the island. In this book are published a great many visitors' letters." Book Description 1851, 1851. Lond: Whittaker & Co. 1851. 8vo. Orig. cloth (slightly rubbed). (260pp.). With portrs. of Brodie and John Adams a view of the landing beach at Pitcairn a full-page text-illust. at p.15 and a list of subscribers. Occasional minor foxing otherwise a fine copy of the second printing. Three printings were immediately needed to satisfy the demand for this detailed account of the Bounty mutineers with all printings appearing in the same year. This is the F.G. Coles copy with bookplate inside front cover. NOTE: Brodie whilst on his way from New Zealand to the Californian gold fields was stranded at Pitcairn through his vessel being blown off shore.
