About this Item

Signed. First Edition. 3 volumes, folio in offwhite cloth, first edition. Signed & dated on title page (Feb 29, 1980) by both Horn & Born. Additionally inscribed by both authors opposite title page. Laid in are: ALS from Horn on UC Berkeley letterhead giving the recipient the page number where Horn cited his work "where you have made an immortal contribution to the history of medieval baking ovens" and saying it was nice to visit him; tear sheet of Horn's obituary; typescript of Alberta Parker Horn's obituary of Walter Horn, probably xeroxed; prospectus with announcement & original envolope (folded); xerox of newspaper article about book with Horn's inscription (not signed); xerox of a letter from unknown librarian or book dealer who appraises the book at "$2,000---no less." Although we've priced it a little less than that, we agree this is an excellent copy. Bookseller Inventory # mon0000125428
