Six volumes. Complete. Contemporary full leather binding; raised bands on spine with gilt tooling, red and green labels. Some minor cracking along the outside joints of the volumes and small chips missing from the top of the spines. Volume IV has evidence of folding to the bottom of the first 17 pages. Plutarch (c46-120AD) was a Greek historian, biographer and essayist under the Roman Empire who wrote a series of Parallel Lives and Moralia. The translations in these six volumes were by the brothers John Langhorne (1735-1779) and William Langhorne (1721-1772) of England.
