About this Item

editing and design by George H. Damman. "Plymouth and DeSoto are combined in this book because they were developed together, introduced in the same year, and remained closely related. Domestic Fargo models were included for similar reasons. The primary purpose was to cover domestic Plymouth and DeSoto models, but DeSoto Diplomat were added at the insistance of some of my colleagues. A single book can show only a few foreign cars in a 50-year range embracing two car lines, especially when the objective is to illustrate and basically describe every body model of every U. S. series in every model year. However, some models are not shown because acceptable photographic material was not available, or because no pictorial record of them was found. The extensive coverage of car lines left relatively little opportunity to report activities and operations of the Plymouth and DeSoto divisions and Chrysler Corp." 416 pages. This is a large and heavy book, so shipping will be more than our standard rates, please inquire. Size: 8 1/2 x 11 1/4 ". Bookseller Inventory # 40812

About this title

In the Foreword, author states that the facts in this book originated within Chrysler Corporation, where many of them are on record in the Chrysler Historical Collection. Also many trade publications yielded background and specific information. Black and white photos of models are offered year by year with a description provided for each. During the war years it shows airplane production as well. Also included are eight examples of the author's artwork, drawn in 1968-1969 and intended to illustrate identifying details of the earliest Plymouth models.
