Gilbert; with Gilbert's pencilled inscription on the inside front cover; top edge and immediately adjacent strip of back cover sun-darkened, appears to be unread, rated Near Fine; softcover bilingual dictionary: English toTagalog, pp 1-85, and a substantial Tagalog to English section (pp. 87-170); ; this hard-to-find dictionary would make a good addition to a collection of books on, and dictionaries of, the Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) languages, or of the lexicographical work of P. Jacobo Enriquez in particular; it could also be used as a handbook for English speakers teaching or learning Tagalog, which was its original purpose; stiff paper covers are green and brown with contrasting lettering on the front and spine, and white with red lettering on the back; 12mo - 7 1/16 inches tall, 170 numbered pages. A number of the books are valuable and hard to find, as for example a 1/2-leather-bound first edition of Alfred Russell Wallace's The Malay Archipelago (2 vols.), recently sold for presentation to the Mayor of London on his visit to Malaysia, and a first edition of H. G. Wells' The Time Machine, a novel of the 19th century pointing to a scary future, a continuing revelation to me. Triple G Books stands back of its books in every way.
