12mo hardcover. Light green cloth boards decorated with white daisies and white ruled borders with title also in white on front(the cover title is 'The Petals of a "Little Flower.") No date or printing specified other than copyright of 1907, but likely first edition. Very Good/: Boards flawless. Front hinge exposed and lightly shaken with separation of approx. 1 1/2" beginning at top and bottom of spine but holding. Rear hinge intact. Some light foxing chiefly to title page. Prev. owner's gift inscription-in penmanship of the times-on first free endpaper. Text itself o/w clean, bright & unmarked. Frontis Portrait; Index According to Dates; Introduction. vi; 165pp. The poetry of Sister Teresa of Lisieux(1873-1897), the young French Girl who joined the Carmelite monastery of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and of the Immaculate Conception at Lisieux, Normandy shortly after her 15th birthday. She remained there until she died at the age of 24 of tuberculosis, and was subsequently beatified in 1923 and canonized in 1924. Presented here are her poems which are translated by Susan Emery and are divided into five parts: the first consists of hymns and canticles relating to her Lord; the second part contains hymns in relation to the Blessed Virgin and the remaining sections contain hymns and poems to St. Mary Magdalen, St. Agnes and St. Cecilia. Also included are Poems in Honor of Jeanne D'Arc. Illustrated with b/w vintage photographs and other illus. plates. Allover a very nice copy of a lovely little book. #40013.
