"Blue Stocking" writer's second edition (first was 1762) of her second collection of poems. Includes the dedication to William Pulteney, Earl of Bath, a poem (in the preface) by Lord Lyttleton, two articles to "The Rambler" (nos. 44 and 100), and the poems "In Diem Natalem," "Ode to Anacreon," and "On the Death of Mrs. Rowe," among others. Carter (1717?1806) included among her many accomplishments being a respected scholar of Greek and translator of Epictetus. 12mo. vi, 104 pp. ESTC T82901. Contemporary sheep; rubbed, leather dry and cracking, front cover detached, and rear joint open, holding weakly. Ex-library with paper shelf label on front cover.
