Synopsis: This is a new biannual anthology of original short fiction featuring a mix ofestablished and new writers.

From the Inside Flap: With the triumphant arrival of POLYPHONY 2, it seems clear that we need to stop thinking of slipstream as that stuff that is not quite science fiction but lies just north of mainstream. These stories don't lurk at the edge of any other genre, thank you very much! Rather they lay claim to wonderous territory all their own. In story after story, Polyphony makes the case for a sensibility that spans literary generations, from another of Lucius Shepard's instant classics to the eye-popping debut by Sally Carteret, from Lisa Goldstein's witty reclamation of a hapless wizard to Dianna Rodgers' bravura transformation of a magic boy into a man. Here are many of your favorite writers working at top form and a clutch of new talent that will dominate tables of contents for decades to come. Have a seat, put your feet up and listen to the sweet, strange counterpoint of POLYPHONY 2.
James Patrick Kelly

All you have to do to convince me a book is going to be great is to tell me there's a story in it by CArol Emshwiller. Or Lucius Shepard. Or Kit Reed. So I was triply delighted before I even opened POLYPHONY 2. And then read on to find even more delights, by old favorites and new. I have only one criticism. No matter what Lucius Shepard says, nothing in here is "The Same Old Story."
Connie Willis

The second volume of POLYPHONY includes stories by some of the best writers in science fiction; the Carol Emshwiller is worth the price all by itself.
Kim Stanley Robinson
