This is an interim report on the first five years of excavations at the Cluniac Priory of Pontefract, founded by Robert de Lacy in 1090, the only monastery of the Cluniac Order in the North of England and one of the earliest post-Conquest monasteries in the country; this report on the excavations from 1957 to 1961 includes a brief summary of the work in 1962 and 1963, appendices describing building materials, pottery, window glass, metal, wood and bone objects, coins and jettons, coffins and internments, and animal remains, and 12 plates; the Supplement includes 40 maps and plans contained in a separate folder with two copies of a typescript report on the years 1964 to 1966 (plain light green cover with black lettering, plain brown folder with black lettering has small edge tear; otherwise both are in very good condition).
