Quarterbound leather with brown, pebbled covers and gilt titles, Five rolled bands on spine with gilt titles and blindstamped decorations. Book has light general wear and aging but is square and securely bound -- a handsome volume. ; B&W Steel Engravings; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 638 pages; All biographies and portraits are present. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order. This is the second volume only. It starts with Daniel O'Connell and ends with Fanny Kemble. The portraits from very fine steel point engravings are generally very attractive and include a sample signature. Connell Otto von Bismarck and Washington Irving, among many others, come in between, On the front pastedown is a sticker from Bookseller and Binder, N. D.
