About this title

Synopsis:

In this up-to-date guide, the author - a Net traveller - reports back from the sites he finds and explores the issues raised by the explosion in Net culture. This guide is not nerdy or bogged down in Net lingo and you won't have to be 18 or under to read it. It is written from an Australian perspective for an Australian audience and includes a mix of the discursive and resourceful. A useful guide for those who have just begun to think about taking the trip into cyberspace, as well as a resource tool and inspiration for those already out there "surfing".

Review:

You want to know what's out there on the Web? Just start clicking. You want to know what's worth visiting and why? Read Jon Casimir. He provides wonderful descriptions of some of the net's best and worst in a tour guide unlike any you've ever read. As he describes each site--or cluster of sites--he weaves in personal observations that may have you scratching your head, looking at new possibilities, or laughing out loud.

If this were a physical tour guide, it would be the type that would not only tell you which out-of-the-way restaurant to look for but also which waiter to ask for. Celebrity sites, weird beliefs, media and news sites, reference sites, and more all pass under Casimir's curious and irreverent examination. Be warned, though-- sometimes his reviews are more fun than the sites themselves.
