About this Item

The film was directed by Gregory Pickup and shot in a SF loft converted to a performance space and sound stage. The star, Hibiscus (a.k.a. George Harris), was the leader of The Angels of Light, a group he formed after leaving his previous group, The Cockettes because he believed that they should perform for free in keeping with the hippie ethos that spawned them. Like The Cockettes, The Angels of Light were a psychedelic, Gay Liberation theatrical group of hippie drag-queens from the Haight-Ashbury. The film was screened at the Palace Theatre but never released. The poster, printed in black on green stock, features a close-up photograph of Hibiscus passionately kissing "Angel Jack," who later went on to notoriety in the Studio 54 celebrity scene. A rare poster for the screening of this film at the Palace Theatre in SF. Near fine (17" x 11"). Bookseller Inventory # SKB-16144
