Spine faded with loss at tail as well. Cloth boards are slightly worn at edges with some staining and light discoloration. Modest soiling overall. Old hand inscriptions on second end page and pastedown. Lacking front fly leaf? Folding map in good working order. Light toning throughout with instances of scattered foxing. Some light age staining throughout. Binding intact. Please see photos. Quint (1828-1896) was the first chaplain-in-chief of the Grand Army of the Republic, chaplain of the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free, and Accepted Masons in Massachusetts, and delivered the Election sermon before the State Legislature in 1866. Commissioned an officer in Company S, Massachusetts 2nd Infantry Regiment on 20 Jun 1861.
