Half title, plates for dedication & cursive Russian; some water staining at upper & lower margins. Contemp. red quarter calf, marbled boards; a little worn, spine darkened. The first English-Russian Grammar, for the convenience of the English merchants and diplomats involved in 'friendly and mutually advantageous intercourse. uninteruptedly maintained since the sixteenth century' but who previously have had to use French or German grammars. A key was also issued separately. Heard later translated Goldsmith's Vicar of Wakefield into Russian.
