Williams attributes the book to Oliver Goldsmith in an 1930's article in the London Mercury. The title claims to present "A more clear, though more summary, View of the Power of the British Empire than has hitherto appeared". The Introduction states it is a "compilation from the most approved authors. There has been no attempt of this kind in our language hitherto. There could be none, since it was impossible to describe an empire before, like ours, it was completed." The North American section comprises pp. 257-39, including 32pp. on Florida. A fair copy externally. This copy's front board is detached, the rear hinge and joint are cracked. Lacks spine label. Small Lowell City Library embossed stamp on halt title and title page at top right, small discard tag affixed to verso. Internally complete, with a little toning. Bookseller Inventory #
