Book Description Little, Brown and Company, Boston, 1902. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: No. Harriette Amsden (illustrator). First Edition. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1902. First edition of the author's first and only venture into children's books. This hard-to-find title includes six fairy tales illustrated in black, vermillion and green, with a distinctly Art Nouveau look. In addition to the title story, others include: Pattikins & the Sea Maiden; Kron the Mighty; The Prince with the Noble Heart; The Princess of the Rainbow; and The King of the Gnomes. Grey cloth lettered and decorated in vermillion, black and green, uncut edges, 139 pages. Condition is relatively used, with cover wear and soiling, some spine end fraying, and a shaken binding with several loose pages. Hinges surprisingly not all that bad. Light dampstain along lower margin throughout book. Some light fingerprinting and other soiling in margins of a few pages, one text page torn horizontally halfway across (no paper loss), two other pages with similar 2" tears, some outer edges lightly chipped. Still a bright and attractive copy. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair/No. Illus. by Harriette Amsden. 4to (11" x 9"). Bookseller Inventory # 000178
