About this Item

281 x 214 mm. 4to. Pages 121-161. [Entire volume: [xxiv], 1556 pp.] 51 figs.; 5 tables. Navy buckram, gilt spine. Blind-stamp of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, Mount Wilson Observatory. Fine. FIRST EDITION. In the late 1960s and early 1970s when components became sufficiently miniaturized, the printed circuit board became a major element in the design of computers. But the technology of the printed circuit received industrial applications as early as the 1940s, as presented in this paper, a comprehensive treatment of the complete field of printed circuits. These methods of printing circuits provided uniformity of production; the reduction of size; saved assembly and inspection time and cost; line rejects; and purchasing and stocking problems. Discusses production details as well as precautions and limitations. Applications presented include printed amplifiers, transmitters, receivers, hearing-aid sub-assemblies, plug-in units, and electronic accessories. Brunetti and Curtis were engineers for the Naval Ordnance Laboratory when this article was written. Ceruzzi, A history of modern computing, pp. 193, 195. Not in Hooke and Norman.
