About this title

Synopsis:

The mental link between a television psychic and his estranged son may be their only hope when desperate kidnappers strike.

From School Library Journal:

Grade 6-10 When his famous father is kidnapped, psychic teenager Tristan Morgan is reluctantly drawn into the search, despite bitter childhood memories of being exploited by his father. He is aided by an unlikely band of allies, including his proverb-quoting stepmother, an intellectual Indian and a teenaged girl to whom he feels attracted despite her hostile attitude. The Johnsons have done a fine job with this well - written science fiction/suspense novel that combines elements of humor, romance and mystery. They paint a convincing portrait of a slightly futuristic society and present a good deal of information about parapsychology without becoming too preachy or slowing down the flow of the fast-moving plot. Credibility is occasionally strained, but never too blatantly. Prisoner of PSI' s major strong point, though, is its eccentric but well-drawn characters and their complex interrelationships. It should have strong appeal for young readers, both male and female .Ruth Reutter, Toledo-Lucas County Pub . Lib . , Ohio
