Author was a journalist and war correspondent who covered, among other things, events in Manchuria. Admiral [Newton A. ] McCully also served in Manchuria. The inscription is as follows: To Admiral McCully / from the Author, in memory of / Manchuria, Rio de Janeiro, St. Augustine / Florida / Christmas 1929. Third printing. Red cloth covered boards. Photo frontis of the Tsarina and Tsarevich. McCully was famous for having adopted six (or seven) Russian children during his time of service in Russia.
