This proceedings (only available in CD-ROM format) is a record of the visible and important international meeting for parallel scientific computing and parallel numerical algorithms which is held every two years. The conference provides a forum for communication among the applied mathematics and scientific computing communities.
For this ninth conference, which was held in San Antonio, Texas, in March 1999, the emphasis was on the interaction of mathematicians and computer scientists with application scientists who have large scale computation, data, and storage needs which lead to the use of parallel machines.
The principal themes of the meeting reflected in the content of the CD-ROM include: scalable algorithms and implementations; large-scale parallel applications; software tools and libraries; Parallel I/O; data mining; parallel visualization and image processing; multidisciplinary simulation and optimization; object-oriented parallel systems; clusters of shared memory machines; wide area parallel computing; parallel processing in the geosciences; and parallel processing in mathematics.
