About this Item

Small accordion like book with end boards covered with cloth."Ukiyoe" is a type of picture developed in close connection with wood cut printing, very popular among the common people in the Tokugawa era (1618-1863). Done by the joint efforts of a painter, an engraver and a printer. Here we have a work of Koitsu Tsuchiya 1870-1949) in 1936, he was the best pupil of Kiyochika Kobayashi (1846-1915). A progressive use of color on twelve prints. There is some spotting on the cover and it is a delicate volume due to the accordion nature. Bookseller Inventory # 005732
