About this Item

1 page on oversize custom fold-out personal letterhead, 16.5 x 5.5 inches, (Tucson) February 22, 1948. In this letter, Behrman responds to a teacher about his literary influences and explains in detail that George Bernard Shaw was his major influence, in part: ".It was all G.B.S., I think, not only the plays themselves, but The Prefaces.it was not merely Shaw's wit; it was the social uses to which he put it. That, I think, was the whole thing.I have found myself wishing that Shaw were young in this inky time." Accompanied by the original typed envelope. The letter is in near fine condition. Behrman was a playwright, screenwriter, and New Yorker contributor, best known for his Broadway plays that commented on contemporary issues. Bookseller Inventory # 211546
