8vo. Stiff beige wrappers. (4pp). Illustration. Near fine. Program for this all-star celebration sponsored by the U.S. Civil War Centennial Commission, the Lincoln Group of the District of Columbia and several similar groups. The two-page center spread lists the "Who's Who" of speakers, which began with a "Call to Order" from Allan Nevins, "Invocation" by Frederick Brown Harris, "National Anthem" sung by Mahalia Jackson, a poem written for the occasion by Archibald MacLeish, an orchestral piece composed for the occasion by Ulysses Kay and speechifying by Nelson A. Rockefeller, Thurgood Marshall and Adlai E. Stevenson -- all of this the warmup for President John F. Kennedy. A handsome and interesting piece. Seller Inventory # 20083
