Derrick gives details of how he overcame the several addictions that a lot of young black males are faced with. Drugs, alcohol, womanizing, and faith in God are some of the most abused issues for young black males growing up in the south.

About the Author: Derrick Miliner, Minister of Religion, Federal Government Employee, College Graduate and a 21 year recovering drug and alcohol addict. In addition to serving the church in evangelistic ministry, Derrick's life is balanced with a ministry of serving the church with preaching and teaching. Derrick started his professional career as a dishwasher in 1973 earning $1.67 an hour, moving to janitorial, street and gutter cleaner in the summer youth program. Enlisting in the Army in 1978 helped him obtain discipline which started to open his eyes to substance abuse. Derrick earned an undergraduate degree in Health Care Management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale Campus, and a graduate degree in Telecommunications Management from the University of Maryland University College, College Park Campus, and a Certified Lay Ministry Theological Education from Concordia University, Mequon Wisconsin. Derrick is a native of Gadsden Alabama. He and his wife, Robin, have one daughter Grace; Derrick has two other daughters Danielle Miliner and Delreka Taylor.
