Chicago, Illinois: The University of Chicago, 1968. Paperback. Inscribed By Author. The University of Chicago. Tall octavo, stapled wrappers, 31 pages. Inscribed by Strehler on the front wrapper. Perhaps best known for his pioneering work concerning Gerontology and Aging, he also solved the riddle as to what (luciferin) cause fireflies to glow. This stampled pamphlet is a University of Chicago reprint of a poem written by Strehler entitled 'The Prometheus Experiment' first published in Perspectives in Biology and Medicine. From his intro: 'We are in a universe - inseparable from it, bound to it - and in the parallelisms between modern feelings and analysis and the insights of those who used our atoms in the long past as reflected in folklore, there is a bond that transcends our individual selves.' Moderate surface wear to wrappers and a light overall crease, else this Author Inscribed Poem is in very good condition. (FM-poetry). Bookseller Inventory #
