White p200 writes that "Not only did he suggest about a thousand corrections in the text of the plays, with a running commentary on the notes of Doctor Hare's edition but he added a dissertation on the Terentian metres, showing with his celebrated 'divination' just how (in his view) the ancient comedians spoke their lines".
