Synopsis: A small girl's rose-colored fantasy of being queen of the world begins with her enjoyment of one hundred lollipops per day and her neverending roller coaster rides, on which her little brother is occasionally granted admittance.
From Kirkus Reviews: A treacly fantasy from newcomer Hiatt, in which a young girl, in declarations that lack the ring of truth, imagines her life as queen of the world. ``I'd have one hundred lollipops a day and never have to share,'' ``I'd stay up as late as I wanted every night,'' and play endless hopscotch, bathe in precious stones, and even fly. With each desire, the girl makes a small token gesture toward her little brother: She'll let him have a lick or two of a lollipop, keep him company at bedtime, let him muss the hopscotch lines, and allow him to play his recorder while she plays the piano. These are good, standard daydreams, luminously captured in Graham's paintings, although the sugar- coating grows fairly dense at times--as if this is the brother's story, not the sister's, of what life would be like if his sibling ruled the world.
