Half blue leather (spine and corners are leather) with blue cloth, gilt title on spines, all page edges are gilt. All three volumes are in very good condition. They measures 4 5/8 x 7 1/4 inches. All three volumes have the previous owners book plate on the front fly paste-down. Volume 1, 273 pages. Volume 2, 331 pages. Volume 3, 360 pages. This book caused quite a furor when it appeared in Paris. This sensation was very similar to the one created by 'Waverly' in Edinburgh. With Quentin Durward, for the first time Scott had ventured onto foreign ground and the French public were absolutely delighted. A lesser known but wonderful novel by "The Great Unknown". Very nice copies. Will send pictures upon request. Bookseller Inventory # 5245
