About this title

Synopsis:

Lieutenant Jason Broadfield, following family tradition of service in England’s Royal Navy, in 1778 receives command of a small ship that carries him into the conflict of the revolt in the American colonies. It is an area he requested for personal reasons; an opportunity to search for his betrothed (Rachel Addington) and his brother (Matthew), taken prisoner by a Yankee privateer some years earlier. No word has been heard of either. He struggles as well with a deeply personal question of right and wrong regarding America’s efforts toward independence; a debate between him and his father.

His experiences provide the answers he seeks.

About the Author:

The author is an architect, married fifty six years, and now enjoying, in retirement with his wife Mary, their three children and seven grandchildren. He enjoys friends, the sharing of short stories, sketching, painting, gardening and community service. The quest represents his first longer piece, the challenge to forward bits of our American history through fictional characters.

During his professional years, following Naval service in the Pacific, he appreciated the opportunity to participate in a broad range of major building projects, work for Syracuse University as an Associate Professor, and during the 70’s energy crunch, work with the N.Y. State Education Department as a Senior Architect.
