Nela o sábio Visconde de Santarém apresenta os resultados das investigações que realizou sobre a viagens que o navegador italiano Américo Vespuci afirmou ter feito por conta de Portugal, em 1501 e 1503, provando, através da pormenorizada análise de documentos e da confrontação de inúmeros testemunhos, que as viagens alegadamente realizadas pelo aventureiro Italiano nunca existiram. A rare second edition of this work, which was published for the first time in Paris in the year of 1836 by the printer Maulde et Renou. Some excerpts had already been published in 1826 included in Navarrete's work, "Coleccion de los viages y descobrimientos que hicieron por mar los Españoles desde fines del siglo XV" [Collection of the sea voyages and discoveries of the Spanish from late 15th century on]. In this work, the wise Viscount of Santarém presents the results of the researches he did on the travels that the Italian navigator Américo Vespuci stated to have done for Portugal in 1501 and 1503.
