Stacy Lande has developed an international following for her darkly sensual expressionistic portraits. With a visual vocabulary informed by Gustav Klimt, mythology, and fetish culture, her work portrays denizens of L.A. nightlife and the performance art world as contemporary satyrs and nymphs, goddesses and demons. Lande s work has been featured in numerous magazines including Juxtapoz and Detour.
About the Author: Robert Williams is Associate Professor of Art History at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is the author of "Art Theory and Culture in Sixteenth-century Italy: From Techne to Metatechne" (1997).
